Introducing our new subscription plan, where Weird Fiction Quarterly comes to you!

One of the questions that we get regularly about Weird Fiction Quarterly is whether it is a “magazine” or “anthology series”. And to be honest, I haven’t had a good answer, as we’re somewhat intentionally building this jalopy as we’re driving it. It’s clear that there is a demand for short-form weird fiction storytelling, but we’re flying against the headwinds of a media ecosystem where printed matter is no longer as influential and consumed as it once was. My personal view is that WFQ is an experiment we’re doing to see where we can meet readers where they are at, while building a business model where authors are getting paid fairly for their work.

Over the past two years, WFQ has been available as a traditional book through Amazon’s print-on-demand platform, and we’ve worked hard to make the book available across all major electronic reading platforms: Amazon, Apple, Google, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. We’ve experimented with releasing some stories for free as a way to draw attention to the publication and its authors (e.g. 2023’s The 13 Days of Weird Flash), and we have a whole bucket of ideas sitting beside us for the next new things to try.

Today, we’re pleased to let you know that we’re providing another new avenue for getting your fix of the best 500-word weird fiction being published today. When it comes to the question of whether we are a book series or a magazine, our thought is:

Indeed. Why not?

Starting today, you can subscribe to Weird Fiction Quarterly.

You have three subscription tiers to choose from:

  • Graveyard Gourmand: A basic electronic subscription for four electronic copies of WFQ to be delivered to your inbox or electronic reader device for $19 USD annually.
  • Fearsome Fungus: The same as the plan above, but also includes access to WFQ's full back catalog. You can catch up and stay caught up for only $39 USD annually.
  • Tentacular Time Traveler: This is our premium plan, which includes the electronic subscription and access to the WFQ back catalog, and also adds four print editions to be delivered to your doorstep as well, for $69 USD annually.

In addition to copies of the latest installments of WFQ, we also have some fun plans in store as our way of thanking you for your support, including advance looks at upcoming WFQ projects and discounts on other WFQ projects and goodies.
